This advanced twenty-lesson course prepares students to work with conflicts shaped by culture, language, identity, religion, migration, social expectations, historical memory, and contrasting concepts of authority, dignity, honor, autonomy, family, community, and fairness. The course rejects simplistic cultural stereotypes. Students learn to treat cultural explanations as hypotheses requiring respectful inquiry, while recognizing the practical effects of communication styles, decision-making traditions, interpreters, collective participation, sacred values, and unequal social power.

Cross-Cultural Mediation and Reconciliation Strategy

Students analyze a conflict involving a culturally diverse organization or community in which language, authority expectations, historical experience, religious or secular values, family involvement, and unequal institutional power have intensified the dispute.
